In this modern world, there are so many ways you can meet someone new, it’s both exciting and overwhelming. Dating isn’t what it used to be- in some ways it’s a lot better. In other ways, it’s a lot harder than it once was. But, with such things as singles events meant to bring people together, there are many new and exciting ways for couples to get together. Few know this better than Chelsea and Drew, two young people who met at a singles mixer in Washington, D.C. Their first date was at an Ethiopian restaurant by the name of Shagga Coffee and Restaurant in MD, which was followed by IHOP. It was an instant connection, and the two of them soon became inseparable. After visiting Chelsea’s alma mater at the University of Pittsburg, Drew proposed to her at the Renaissance Pittsburg Hotel, and she was thrilled to say yes. The two of them strongly looked forward to sharing their special day with their friends, family, and loved ones together in one place, and also anticipate the life they are going to spend together for the rest of their days.
We wedding photographers at Judah Avenue were thrilled to have the opportunity to document this couple’s special day, and we first met with them as they got ready at Comfort Inn Conference Center in Bowie, MD. Chelsea anticipated the event in her room surrounded with her closest of friends and bridesmaids, getting her hair and makeup done.
This bride proves that an edgy style is still as elegant as an angel. Drew, also, looked sharp when he finally emerged from his room, ready to see his bride for the first time. Laughter and jokes filled the air, along with the anticipation for the day to come, and we were off to the Allen Pond Park where Drew got to see his bride in her stunning wedding dress for the first time.
The look on his face was priceless as he took her in his arms, and it was clear they were both amazed and in awe that the day had finally come. We took dozens of photos of the bride and groom before the ceremony, and it didn’t’ seem to matter what pose they struck, they both looked like they belonged on the cover of a bridal magazine.
Then, it was on to the location. This couple had chosen the First Baptist Church in MD for their special ceremony, and the guests had already lined the pews from wall to wall. The procession was beautiful, but it was when the bride herself appeared and walked up the aisle to meet her husband, there were tears of joy on many faces. It was amazing to see this bride and groom exchange their vows – enough to bring goosebumps to everyone who was present. When they kissed, the crowd cheered, and we got shots of everything. Of course, we got a few more photos after the ceremony, but it wasn’t long before we sped off to the reception.
The halls of the Bowie Elks Lodge had been elaborately decorated for the event, complete with streamers, dinnerware, and a regal cake that stood proudly in the corner of the room. By the time we arrived with the bride and groom, the guests were already milling about, eager for the arrival of the newlyweds.
The party started immediately, with all kinds of dancing, speeches, toasting, and celebrations. From the oldest to the youngest, everyone got in on the action, with the bride and groom being the celebrated center of it all. Of course, we from Judah Avenue were certain to get photos of everything, capturing every second of this beautiful day.
With blessings and well-wishes to send the couple into the next chapter of their life, we snapped a final shot of Chelsea and Drew enjoying each other on their wedding day.
