When it comes to matters of the heart, it doesn’t matter where you come from as love crosses oceans, mountains and borders. Roxanne, who is of Ethiopian and American descent, and Gaurav, who is of Indian descent, know this truth about love’s power to unite more intimately than most couples. It all started when the two went out on a date for Roxanne’s birthday while they were in college. From there, the two fell deeply in love. Both Roxanne and Gaurav love to travel and experience life together, which made it so fitting when Gaurav proposed to Roxanne on the beach in India during a beautiful sunset. They love to celebrate their distinct but dynamic cultures together and boast an admirable commitment to live life to the fullest.
Both Roxanne and Gaurav got ready for their big moment in the Morais Vineyard in Bealeton, VA surrounded by their friends and loved ones. Judah Avenue photographers were eager to get in on the action, and what a day we had! Roxanne’s loved ones helped her slip into a traditional Indian look, complete with a sari and gorgeous gold jewelry. By the time Roxanne emerged from the room, she radiated pure elegance, beauty and class.
The groom geared up for his big day with his own group of friends and family. As he pulled together his traditional Indian groom garments, memorable moments were filled with laughter as jokes and well wishes were shared among loved ones. After he finished getting suited and booted, Gaurav eagerly waited to see his bride for the first time, and when she was finally revealed to him, the expression on his face was absolutely priceless
After a touching first-look moment, the bride and the groom swiftly made their way over to the ceremony location were guests eagerly awaited the soon-to-be newlyweds.
After the wedding ceremony was over, the couple changed wardrobes and shed their Indian garb for stunning attire from Ethiopia for the reception.
The reception hall was gorgeously decorated for the big event with all kinds of beautiful dinnerware and flowers – and the cake stood proudly in the corner of the room. The afternoon was filled with dancing and celebrating, as Roxanne and Gaurav and wife shared their happiest day with their closest friends and family.
For guests who needed a caffeine fix to keep the party going, fresh, authentic Ethiopian coffee was served!
Amidst the swirl of colorful garments, smiling faces and an endless assortment of culinary delicacies, it was obvious how much this couple was adored by all who have come to know them. While the still photos from Roxanne and Gaurav’s wedding day tell a beautiful story, seeing how the day unfolded in motion adds a completely different level of appreciation for such an unforgettable ceremony. Judah Avenue was fortunate to serve as not the photographer for their event, but also the videographer. Watch highlights from the happy couple’s incredible wedding below.
