Excitement ran high in Washington D.C. as we had the opportunity to photograph Savannah and Adam’s wedding day. While Savannah and her friends and family got ready in the historic Willard Hotel in the heart of D.C., we wedding photographers took the opportunity to snap some eloquent photos of Savannah’s gown and shoes – the sparkle simply steals the show!
Savannah’s hair and makeup made her look like royalty – you can see in her eyes that she feels like a princess, especially when she received a special note from her prince, Adam. Then, she took everyone’s breath away as she was laced up into her gown. The details on the back were incredibly intricate, the perfect complement to her shoes.
But, the girls weren’t the only ones having a good time and we wedding photographers made sure to catch up on what the entire bridal party was up to. The groom and his men? They were living it up in their own room as Adam prepared for the ceremony. Let’s just say argyle socks are always in fashion and the groom and his groomsmen had a fun idea to tie it all into the reception later.
After receiving a love note from the love of his life, Adam went downstairs to await the appearance of his bride. The suspense built as Savannah descended the stairs behind him, but the joyful meeting was worth the wait.
Then, the company packed up and headed for the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church – only four blocks away from the White House itself. Friends and family eagerly lined the pews and the corners of the room as they waited for the appearance of the bride. In a building filled with such rich history, we wedding photographers felt blessed to be a part of Adam and Savannah’s history, too.
The ceremony was heartfelt and passionate, as the new man and wife walked back up the aisle, their faces were set aglow with joy. But as photographers, we aren’t about to stop there. We took as many shots as possible as both the bride and groom headed for their limo – and the Lincoln Memorial.
There, it was any newlywed’s – and wedding photographer’s – dream. The weather was beautiful and the afternoon was perfect for taking as many post-ceremony photos as we could. As the clouds began to roll in and the sun began to set, we took one final opportunity to snap a few photos of the bride and her company, and the groom and his.
But the real fun was yet to begin. Next stop, the National Museum of Women in the Arts. This is the largest museum in the world that is solely dedicated to celebrating women’s achievements in visual, performing, and even the literary arts. And you can believe there was a lot of celebrating going on that night.
With decorations, trinkets, pictures, and cute messages, the room was fit for a royal celebration. Dozens of guests crowded in, taking their seats along the banquet tables. The cake stood at the front of the room, almost as elegant as the bride herself.
Once the bride and groom arrived, the real party began. With toasts and dancing, hugs and more photo opportunities, we wedding photographers had about as much fun as the party themselves.
The evening continued to wear on with speeches and more dancing, cutting the cake and tossing the bouquet.
Then, the new bride and groom took their leave, and walked through a party of celebratory streamers back to their limo. The excitement in the air was electrifying, and we are so grateful you let us be a part of your perfect day!
