Nenna and Taylor are one of a kind and their traditional Nigerian wedding was absolutely beautiful! The bride and groom looked resplendent and opulent in their beautiful Nigerian attire and it made us all the more eager for their white wedding. The Nigerian traditional wedding is an ethnic marriage ceremony where the groom officially goes to ask for the bride’s hand in marriage from her family. In fact, when Nenna’s mom hired us to be their photographers for their traditional Nigerian wedding ceremony, she said “the traditional wedding ceremony is for me and the white wedding is for them”. That statement alone showed how much pride Nigerian’s have for their cultural and ethnic marriage ceremony.
In Nigerian culture, brides or grooms are required to perform this ceremony no matter which culture their future spouses hail from. In this case, our groom is American and the bride was Nigerian so tradition required him to formally go to the bride’s family to perform her marriage rites. Nigerian traditional wedding ceremony photography is something we love photographing so we were so honored to have been commissioned to cover the day for Nenna and Taylor.
Congratulations to Nenna and Taylor on your traditional wedding day! It was an honor to serve as your wedding photographer and we wish you years and years of happiness and joy.
