We are so grateful to photograph some of the most amazing couples in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area on their wedding day. Ida and Cornelius’ wedding at Samuel Riggs Alumni Center was simply fabulous! Let’s go back to how he proposed! You know a man is ready to be committed when he teams up with the principal of a school and a class full of 3rd grade students to pull off a surprise wedding proposal for their teacher! When we arrived the day was bustling and filled with excitement. All the bridesmaids and groomsmen were ready to go and Yodit from Favored by Yodit planning was there directing the day and putting everything in place. Shortly our beautiful bride had hair and makeup ready and was allowing us to pose and play with her to perfection.
Ida and Cornelius first met as freshmen at the University of Maryland in College Park. They were introduced by Ida’s sister and Cornelius’ roommate and their first date was at that Applebees on the corner of Route 1. Since this was the quintessential College Park romance, it only seemed natural that they would go back to college park for their wedding and declare their everlasting vows to each other at Memorial Chapel. If you were ever a student at the University of Maryland, you would understand the dream of getting married to your college sweetheart under the ornate tall steeples of Memorial Chapel!
This gorgeous wedding was an Eritrean and American celebration! Having been together for 8 years before getting married, Ida and Cornelius were already close with the family from both sides and wanted various aspects from Eritrean and American Wedding culture incorporated into their wedding day, and their planner Yodit being of Ethiopian descent was able to put that together beautifully! The band and their colorful entrance into the wedding reception was simply glorious! The air was rife with excitement as their leaped in with drums and flowers and loud cheers! What a day! Congratulations to our beautiful bride Ida and her boo Cornelius!
Congratulations to Ida and Cornelius on your wedding day! It was an honor to serve as your wedding photographer and we wish you years and years of happiness and joy.
