Faith is the realization of things hoped for and for John and Winnie, their holy matrimony was something that had been conjured up for so long in their dreams that actually exchanging vows and calling each other husband and wife on their wedding day felt like a real dream come true. Winnie and John are both competitive and their first date was at a mini-golf course. Winnie claims that she let John win, John however, disputes that and claims that wasn’t the case and that he won on his own merit. While John might not necessarily want to relinquish his victorious claim over that game of mini-golf, the love, affection and commitment they have for one another is undoubtedly a verifiable hole-in-one. We were fortunate to be there at the Marriott Fair Oaks as the bride and groom prepared for their big day.
Winnie’s stunning white wedding gown was paired with shimmering, classic silver earrings, bracelets and shoes that simply took our breath away!
Can we just say how much we LOVED the African print bathrobes that Winnie and her bridesmaids wore for their getting ready process? Talk about representing your culture in all aspects!
We love all of our Judah Avenue brides, but we have to say that there was something breathtaking taking Winnie in with her full wedding regalia on. Her joy was infectious, her regality obvious and her radiant beauty simply stunning. While Winnie’s angelic visage captured our photographers’ attention, John and his crew were getting GQ-fresh in his room, assembling all of the most meticulously prepared gentlemanly details.
The universal symbol for hanging loose! We’re not sure if John is a surfer, but we loved this little detail on his tux. Grooms, this is how you infuse your look with your personality!
After the bride and groom were fully dressed, it was time for them to lay eyes on each other for the first time with the first look.
After ooohing and aaahing at each other for a while, John and Winnie quickly assembled the full wedding party for a quick shot before they darted off to the Living Faith Ministries in Manasass, Va., for the wedding ceremony.
After doing the hard work of ring bearing, isn’t a little thumb sucking a warranted reward? 😉
Emotions got the best of Winnie while she looked into John’s eyes and exchanged their vows. We shoot so many weddings but we still get choked up at the “I do” moments from time to time too!
The Mr. and Mrs. are officially ready to take on the world! While the reception was set to follow after the ceremony, the celebrations for Winnie and John started pretty much right away.
Winnie and John prepared a lavish reception party for their wedding guests at Heritage Hunt Golf & Country Club in Gainesville, VA.
Winnie and John are from Ghana and it’s fairly customary for the bride and groom to change outfits at some point during the reception. We absolutely LOVED Winnie’s shimmering gold dress and John’s deep royal blue tuxedo. The beauty of the two-outfit custom with Ghanaian couples is that you have multiple chances to wow your guests with your best threads!
In case you haven’t noticed, Winnie was tearing up quite a bit during the entire wedding! Hey girl, it’s ok! It’s your day: Be emotional!
There’s nothing like a good ol’ fashioned wedding selfie with the bride and groom! Friends and family get to treat the happy couple like a true celebrity on their wedding day. As the music wound down and the guests said good-bye, it was time to call it a night for Winnie and John’s wedding. We couldn’t have been more pleased to have been selected as their wedding photographers for the event. Congratulations, Winnie and John! We wish you a very blessed and happy union!
