A wedding is a moment where a man and a woman can celebrate and encapsulate their union, love and dedication to each other in a beautiful ceremony at the Community Worship Center of Seventh Day Adventists with family and friends. Kayode and Funso pulled together a truly classic wedding that offered incredible symbolism and iconic memories. We especially loved the use of the white Rolls Royce, which is a truly aristocratic throwback, for their car. But as with all weddings, it all starts with the getting ready process, which was done at LaGuardia Plaza Hotel.
Funso’s bridal gown was particularly breath-taking. We loved the creamy undertones and the beautiful floral designs on the dress.
For a woman on her wedding day, it’s important to feel surrounded by the love and support of your gal pals. Funso had no shortage of bridesmaids in her wedding as she had nine bridesmaids in her party.
Kayode’s groom gear was perfectly positioned and prepared just like Funso’s. Don’t let anyone tell you that men don’t fret over the details on their wedding day!
With his sunglasses on, Kayode looks like a man who’s ready to conquer the world. With the right woman by his side, of course.
The First Look moment was full of suspense for Kayode as he was able to glimpse his beloved Funso in all of her bridal splendor for the first time. Kayode couldn’t help himself and he actually teared up when he took in his bride-to-be visually for the first time.
After the First Look, it was time for the groom to formally meet his bride in front of the altar and Kayode couldn’t have been more happy about walking down the aisle.
Daddy’s little girl. Funso was full of emotion as she walked down the aisle to meet her soon-to-be husband with her father by her side.
Garvin is Kayode’s best man and proved to be the true definition of a best man as he supported Kayode throughout the wedding. He also is next in line as his own wedding is set for Aug. 9, 2018!
This is that pivotal moment when the bridge and groom exchange their vows. The words exchanged here will seal their commitment for eternity. Witnessing this transformative moment draws awe and emotion from those in the pews.
For those of you who are regular readers of the Judah Avenue blog, you might recognize this groomsman third from the left. That’s Nkemdi, whose wedding we shot last year at the Bellevue Conference and Event Center!
After the couple exchanged their I dos, they darted off in a stunning, white Rolls Royce to head over to Old Westbury Gardens for bridal portraits and from there, on to Elite Palace for the wedding reception. Those moments in the car alone right after they’ve officially become Mr. and Mrs. are some of our favorites because the bride and groom have nothing but pure joy written all over their faces.
With the bridal portraits completed, the wedding transitioned into the reception, where eager guests gathered to celebrate the newlyweds and throw down on the dance floor!
One of the things you’ll often find at Nigerian weddings that you might not find at other weddings is the role of an MC. MC Wallywa was on the mic for Funso and Kayode’s big day and he was super helpful as he announced to all the wedding guests that they should all have a seat, “including those with sophisticated cameras,” so that the professional photographers can do their jobs! We appreciated that because sometimes, eager guests can jump in the middle of a great shot or excited guests can bump the photographer while they’re taking a picture.
Since we shot Nkemde’s wedding last year, we were ready and prepared for some of his swaggalicious dance moves, but the guests at Kayode and Funso’s wedding weren’t!
This entry was epic and unexpected because they appeared from behind the room instead of in front of the room and then floated on clouds to the middle of the dance floor whoa!
With the money spray completed, it was officially a wrap for Funso and Kayode’s wedding and we couldn’t have been more pleased to have been selected as their wedding photographers for the event. Congratulations, Funso and Kayode! We wish you a very blessed and happy union!
