Love is a funny thing. It can strike anybody, at any time. Few understand this quite like Jasmine and Sammy – two friends who met in high school and are now ready to say “I do.” Jasmine and Sammy’s meeting could be counted as fate, as Jasmine just happened to attend the same high school as Sammy her freshman year. Though they had mutual friends, the couple didn’t initially have interest in dating each other. It wasn’t until Jasmine texted Sammy and invited him to her 30th birthday party trip that everything changed. They had their first official date at the Tarntip Thai Restaurant in Va. At the time it was just Sammy’s favorite restaurant, but now both of them love it. Family is important to Sammy and Jasmine and she made a strong connection with Sammy’s dad. Although he passed away early on in their relationship, it was important to them to have had that connection while they could.
Sammy has always been rather direct, and his proposal was more of a statement than a question. When Jasmine asked what he would be doing with his evening on her 30th birthday, he told her he wanted to take her ring shopping the next day. Although this couple had a whirlwind romance, they have been engaged for nearly as long as they have been together. With their mutual friend list, neither one wanted to tear it apart with casual dating, and with the option of all or nothing in front of them, they chose all. The couple looked forward to their wedding, coming together as a family for the first time and hearing the vows they wrote for one another. They are also happy with how their hashtag, #OnCloudNelson2017, fits in well with the starry colors they chose for their wedding.
Judah Avenue met with the couple at Holiday Inn Chantilly-Dulles Expo in Va., where Jasmine was getting ready for the big event surrounded by her friends and family. Her friends and family flitted around her, helping her out with her hair and makeup, and by the time she was done she looked like an absolute goddess. After being attended to by his friends and loved ones, Sammy also emerged from the room looking suave and sharp enough to be on the cover of GQ magazine.
Then, it was on to the ceremony at the Westfields Golf Club, where guests had already lined the seats as they awaited the arrival of the wedding party. And what a party it was! From the moment the first guest arrived to the arrival of the bride, there were happy tears and awe-struck moments. Both the bride and groom brought tears to each other’s eyes as they exchanged their vows, becoming Mr. and Mrs. Nelson. Before the celebration began, we took the opportunity to snap as many photos as we could of the wedding party along with the bride and groom. By the time we entered the reception hall, the party was well under way and family and friends were eager to mingle and congratulate the blissful newlyweds. The cake stood proudly in the corner, and laughter already filled the air. There were jokes and dancing, blessings and speeches. Toasts filled the air, and everyone wanted a shot with the new bride and groom. The celebration lasted long into the night, and we were sure to snap photos of everything that was happening. With a final parting shot filled with joyous bubbles, we are thrilled we got to spend this wonderful day with this beautiful couple.
