Every couple who walks down the aisle has something to be proud of. Together, they have overcome differences, fought battles, fallen in love, and taken on the world. By the time they exchange their vows on their wedding day, they know they want to be together forever. But, every couple faces their unique set of challenges, and every couple must overcome those challenges in their own way. Long distance is a common challenge, and in this modern world, few couples are willing to attempt it. But, Monica and Kevin knew they wanted to be together forever, and it was something they faced and overcame. Monica and Kevin met at their mutual friend’s 21st birthday party. That same night they exchanged their phone numbers, they went on their first date at Artfish, and 6 years later, they got engaged. Kevin proposed at the same location where they had met, and of course, Monica said yes, and we feel very blessed that they chose Judah Avenue to be their wedding photographers for their wedding at St Francis Hall.
We photographers from Judah Avenue first met with the couple as they each prepared for the ceremony at the Wyndam Vacation Resort at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD. Monica looked beautiful surrounded by her 7 bridesmaids, and there were smiles and jokes all around as they helped her with her dress, makeup, and taking a few photos. We greatly enjoyed the morning, staying with her until seeing her off into the car for the ceremony. At the same time, Kevin was also getting ready for the big moment with a couple drinks and a lot of laughs. When Monica sent a few of her bridesmaids over with a gift for her husband, more than a single happy tear was shed. Of course, we took the chance to snap several photos of him surrounded by his groomsmen before he, too, went off to the ceremony.Michigan Park Christian Church had been elaborately decorated in honor of the ceremony, and guests had already packed themselves into the seats – waiting for the arrival of the bridal party. Once they began to arrive, everyone craned their necks for any kind of view they could get. When Monica herself arrived, everyone rose and watched as she walked by. The ceremony was beautiful, bringing tears to all who witnessed.
After the ceremony, we took the opportunity to snap as many photos as we could of the new bride and groom – along with their wedding parties. It didn’t matter what angle we took, each and every photo looked like it belonged on the cover of a magazine. Then, it was on to the reception!
The St. Francis Hall in Washington, DC had been elegantly decorated for the event, and guests were already filling the seats. The cake stood regally in the corner of the room, and the party started immediately. Drinks and dancing were in every corner, as people gave toasts and speeches in honor of the new bride and groom. Laughter filled the air, and blessings were passed from friends and family down to the couple at every turn. Everyone took the chance to get a snap with the photo, with as many selfies being taken as they could keep up with. The party lasted long into the night, with us photographers getting in on all the action as well.
