Most people assume they will grow up and find the loves of their lives when they are a young adult. They believe they are going to meet this person early in their lives, and they will move on to spending the rest of their lives with that special someone who is meant to make their lives complete. But, there are those who make the decision early in life. There are people who meet that special someone from the beginning, and they simply know that that is the one they are going to spend their lives with.
They don’t care about what anyone else says, and they certainly don’t worry about what else might be out there. They know who they love, and they promise their lives. This is what happened to Margaret and Wilhelm, two people who met in Ghana when she was 13 and he was 19. As homebodies, their first date was spent watching a movie at home, and their love was kindled. Margaret knew Wilhelm proposed when he used the traditional African ceremony of going directly to her parents.
We wedding photographers at Judah Avenue met with the couple at Hotel Monaco in Baltimore, MD as Margaret made ready for her big moment. Surrounded by her friends and family, they helped her do her hair and slip into her gown. By the time they had finished, she looked fit to be on the cover of a bridal magazine.
She met with her father down below, and the two of them rode to the location in a white limo. Meanwhile Wilhelm also got ready with his close friends, laughing and relaxing and anticipating the coming moment.
Guests had already lined the room of Martin’s West, all anticipating the arrival of the bridal party. From the oldest to the youngest, each one craned their necks to see the bride as she walked down the aisle next to her father. The couple beautifully and tearfully exchanged their vows, bringing smiles and joy to everyone who watched. After the ceremony, we took the opportunity to snap a few photos of the bride and groom with their wedding parties. The reception hall of Martin’s West had been elaborately decorated for the ceremony, and it wasn’t long before it was filled with the guests. Immediately, the celebration began. Dancing, laughter, photos with the bride and groom, and blessings were showered upon the couple, with all the guests getting in on the action. There was wild, fun dancing and there was more subtle, quiet dancing to round out the evening. A lively bouquet toss brought laughter to the entire room, and thoughtful speeches and toasts brought tears of joy to more than the bride and groom alone. All around the room there was nothing but joy and smiles for everyone, with the bride and groom being the center of it all. We photographers took the opportunity to snap photos of everything, eager to document every second of this wonderful couple’s perfect day. After a few parting shots, we left the couple with their families to celebrate the rest of their perfect wedding, pleased that we got to be a part of this wonderful step in their lives.
