It’s no secret that some people experience love at first sight, and for others it just creeps upon them when they least expect it. Perhaps it’s that chanced meeting and sparks fly, or it’s the subtle movement from friendship into something more. For Luam and Ason, it was certainly a beautiful process that blossomed from a wonderful friendship. Luam and Ason met at George Mason University when they were both in their third year of school. They hit it off as friends, and would often hang out together. They didn’t have an official first date as they had been friends for a while, but their first night they spent out together after they started dating was on New Year’s Eve 2013, where they shared their first kiss at midnight.
From the moment they started dating, this happy couple did everything together. From just hanging out and watching movies to going out and trying new things, they were nearly inseparable. Luam and Ason stood by each other’s sides through the thick and thin, and both knew without a doubt that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Ason proposed during a family dinner, and Luam was more than happy to say yes.
When their big day finally arrived, our team at Judah Avenue was eager to get to work. Luam got ready for the ceremony at her parent’s home surrounded by her friends and family. Both parents were clearly very proud of their daughter as her bridesmaids helped her with her makeup and slipping into her gown. She fit for the cover of a magazine by the time they had finished with her. Happy tears and smiles were spread about the room along with laughter and hugs, and it was clear everyone was very excited.
Meanwhile, at the Sheraton Pentagon City hotel in Arlington, MD, Ason was also getting ready. In a flash, he was ready to go and it was off to the location. The ceremony itself was held at Kidist Selassie Eritrean Orthodox Church in Temple Hills, MD. It was a special location as it is Luam’s parent’s home church. Guests were already lining the room from wall to wall, and they were all eager to see the bridal party arrive.
This couple created a beautiful blend of their heritage along with a traditional white wedding, melding together traditions that made an impression on the entire crowd. Many of the guests wore traditional clothing in support of the ceremony, and each person was breathtaking.
After the couple exchanged their vows, the celebration erupted. We snapped photos of both the bride and groom together, as well as with their wedding parties. They even got in on the action with a few selfies taken with their closest friends. We couldn’t get enough of Luam and Ason – they looked like the perfect couple in every single shot.
Then, it was on to the reception. The celebration was held at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel, where the reception hall had been luxuriously decorated. The regal cake stood proudly in the corner and guests quickly filled the room. It was then that the real party began. Dancing, laughter, and well-wishes filled the air as guests offered their undying support to the couple. Again, Luam and Ason masterfully intertwined several traditional aspects into their white wedding, including cutting and cooking dinner for the guests right in the center of the reception hall. The celebration was stunning, with friends and family all gathering around this new bride and her groom. Each offered their blessings on the couple’s next chapter in life, and many took the opportunity to take photos with the bride and groom both. The celebration lasted long into the night, and we wedding photographers took photos of everything. As a parting shot, we took several gorgeous photos of the bride and groom as they wrapped up their evening, ready to take the next step in their lives.Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your wonderful day, it’s clear that you are going to have many, many beautiful years together, and all of us here at Judah Avenue want to extend our congratulations.
