Life has many twists and turns, and we are all on different paths – uncertain of where it may take us. Some of us make choices that take our lives in a completely different direction than it was headed – and some of us follow in the choices that our parents make – allowing our lives to change accordingly. Yet, it doesn’t matter where our lives take us, there is one thing that will never change – and that is our heritage. Roots. Foundations. The true core person will never change, and it is important to remember that.
Luam and Ason are a beautiful couple who understand this truth, and they wanted to celebrate the biggest decision of their lives by also celebrating their roots as well Eritrean roots. Here at Judah Avenue, we love the opportunity to be able to be a part of people’s special days – and we love all the diversity that goes along with that privilege. In their traditional Eritrean wedding, Luam and Ason both dressed in the standard wardrobe that a bride and groom wears in Eritrea. Not only that, but all their guests dressed in the traditional attire, and the entire procession looked incredible. As with their white wedding, Luam and Ason chose the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel in Arlington, VA for their traditional celebration.
The reception hall had been decorated once again in the most beautiful fashion, with all the chairs and tables covered in luxurious white linen. Luam and Ason looked like royalty as they stepped into the crowd, and the ceremony began. Sticking to tradition, there was dancing and blessings, and food galore! From the traditional dishes to the glorious wedding cake, there was no end to the celebration that was taking place all over the room.
Music was played on traditional drums, and gifts were presented to the bride and groom. We were sure to snap photos of every second of it, while laughter and happy chatter filled the air. Of course, we took the time to take a few shots of the bride – both with her groom and without. The dancing and celebration lasted long into the evening, and we had a blast being a part of it. Everyone clearly adores this wonderful couple, and were thrilled to be able to support them in the next chapter of their lives.
