High school is a time for fun, learning, and making friends. Most people find that their high school friendships are the ones that last a lifetime. Many keep in touch their social media and high school reunions, but there are always the special friendships that form and never end. Efua and Alex met this way, meeting at a mutual friend’s going away party. Though they had many mutual friends, they’d never met in high school – likely due to the fact Efua was a freshman the year Alex was a senior. They hit it off, and they had their first date grabbing dinner at Noodles and Company then going to see the Green Lantern at the Majestic Theater in Silver Spring. The couple found they had a lot in common – considering each other to be their own greatest strengths and weaknesses, they do most things together. From the beginning they have prioritized spending time together, with date night being every Friday – something Efua says she is looking forward to after the wedding excitement settles down. Alex proposed at a magic show – he worked together with the magician to choose Efua as an assistant for a trick. During the trick, he revealed the ring and Alex got down on one knee. Of course, she said yes. Many people told Alex and Efua they were too young to become serious with each other, but from the moment they met, they knew they wanted to be together – and after being together for 5 years, neither one of them have any doubts about their relationship. Here at Judah Avenue, we were super excited to get to meet with this couple to photograph their special day. They both got ready at the Sheraton Beltsville MD, and we were eager to snap photos of every second. Getting ready for her big moment was a party for Efua as she was surrounded by her bridesmaids. Each one was eager to lend a hand in her getting ready, and by the time they had finished, she looked like a goddess. It was a beautiful moment when Efua’s father saw her in her gown for the first time – the looks on both their faces were magical.Meanwhile, Alex was getting ready with his own party. The atmosphere was just as joyous with the groom’s party as it had been with the bride’s, and everyone was just as eager to get to the ceremony. Guests had already piled into the church, lining the pews from wall to wall. They were eager to see Efua walked down the aisle, and the exchanging of vows was so powerful, they brought tears and goosebumps to the eyes of everyone in the room. After the ceremony, it was time for us to step in and be hands on once more – photographing both the bride and groom as a married couple for the first time and them along with their wedding parties. Then, it was time to celebrate. The reception took place at The Villa in Beltsville, MD – and guests had already begun to arrive. The reception hall had been gloriously decorated. A royal cake stood proudly in the corner, and beautiful lighting had been placed about the room. There was dancing and speeches, and blessing from all who attended. Everyone was eager to share with the bride and groom their support for the next step in their lives. The games and dancing continued long into the night, with the oldest to the youngest getting on board with the fun. With a final shot, we sent this young couple into the next chapter of their lives with a smile and all the blessings in the world. Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your special day, it’s clear that you are going to have many, many beautiful years together, and all of us here at Judah Avenue want to extend our congratulations.
