As wedding photographers, the opportunities we have to be a part of history… both from times past and history in the making. We recently were a part of both forms of rich history at the wedding of Alicia and her husband Raymar. This unique couple chose the enchanting Woodlawn Manor in Sandy Spring, Maryland, as the venue to make their ultimate dream come true. Built in the early part of the 1800s, the Woodlawn Manor still holds much of its original charm. Charm that was turned to an untold beauty at the creativity of Alicia. With an idea as beautiful as herself, she personalized the manor with photos of their family members, placing their own personal touch on the manor for their wedding.
The entire house looked incredible, the light was gorgeous and everything was so perfect. Our videographers and photographers literally scrambled to get a shot of every charming trinket Alicia decorated the property with. All this beauty, however, paled in comparison to our beautiful couple, Alicia and Raymar. From the breathtaking image of her gown hanging in the window, catching every ray of sunshine, to the quirky little hearts hanging from each door, the wonderful personalities of this perfect couple shone through the day.
A wedding photographer is highly privileged to get to see the bride and groom ready themselves for each other, and we didn’t let any of that privilege go to waste! We got up close and personal with both bride and groom, capturing every second of their preparation.
You can see the anticipation on everyone’s faces… and how that anticipation melts into joy as the couple is seen together. Though the manor was large, the group was small, comprised solely of close friends and family.
There are few things more incredible to witness than a group of close friends and family celebrating an occasion such as this, but Alicia brought us all… photographers included… to tears as she gathered flowers from certain members of the group. These tears of joy quickly turned to goosebumps as we watched in awe as Raymar bound the flowers together into a single bouquet… symbolizing the two families becoming one.
The ceremony was short, but that was no indication of the plans this couple had.
We wedding photographers always love what follows the ceremony… a grand reception! Alicia’s and Raymar’s reception at Woodlawn Manor certainly lived up to our hopes. With a reception as steeped in culture as the Manor itself, the Peruvian couple stayed true to their roots as they danced in a second line leading a grand brass band… a tradition we were thrilled to snap photos of.
The formalities began to die down, but the celebration had just begun as more friends and family members gathered inside the reception tent. Blessings and wishes filled the air as members from both sides of the family offered advice and congratulations to the new bride and groom.
Unable to bring ourselves to wrap things up, we were there long into the night, catching every opportunity we could to document the celebration.
We would also like to introduce our wedding videography and cinematograpy services. We were so honored to be Alicia and Raymar’s wedding videographers. WView our pictures in motion here:
