Alyssa and Dennie’s Vintage Wedding in the Scenic Mountains of Shenandoah Woods in Stanley Virginia

It was with great excitement that we pulled up to the cabin in the Shenandoah Woods. The long anticipated day had finally arrived, and Alyssa and Dennie were finally going to tie the knot. As wedding photographers, we have a lot of special opportunities to experience all kinds of fairytales, and this was one that instantly became a favorite. It was a chilly and somewhat rainy day, but perfect nonetheless!

Alyssa looked like a goddess in her beautiful vintage dress. You can see the fine details of the lace intertwined throughout the vintage piece, and how well it went with the flowers she picked out. We can’t say enough about how much we loved the plum colors and how lovely they were with the groom’s shirt. With the rich green colors of the forest and the beautiful bridesmaid dresses, the entire afternoon was a wedding photographer’s paradise! After capturing some of the most beautiful images of Alyssa in her gown, we took the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the groom and his family. The happiness on everyone’s faces simply radiated how wonderful of a couple these two are!

We also love the story of how they met one weekend, a few years back. Alyssa was supposed to be in Las Vegas at a very close friend’s wedding. However, due work commitments, the trip got called off last minute so she called up her girlfriends and said, “I’m supposed to be partying in Vegas, let’s go dancing here and make the best of it! Who knows, maybe I’ll meet my future husband tonight!” Little did she know, but the handsome guy in the corner was exactly what she predicted.

After that initial meeting, they realized their paths were crossing on a weekly basis at work, so they decided to “officially go to lunch”…and then a movie…and then dinner…and so on. Eventually they were on a volunteer trip to New York to help with the Hurricane Sandy cleanup together. This is where they finally realized they were perfect for each other! Almost three years later, surrounded by friends, Dennie got down on bended knee and asked Alyssa to marry him. She immediately said YES, and here we are about to celebrate their wedding in the scenic Shenandoah mountains of Virginia at their “I DO BBQ”!

At last, we gathered the entire family together to snap a few photos before the ceremony. Alyssa looks like she stepped out of heaven in that gown, and the moment Dennie saw his bride to be in her gown for the first time was simply priceless.

When the big moment finally arrived, friends and family gathered in a beautiful area prepared for the ceremony. We wedding photographers were ready to jump right in and take full advantage of this love story coming together. You can see the anticipation on all the guest’s faces as they watch Alyssa walk up the aisle to join the love of her life. But the celebration had only begun. Look at all of the dance moves and good times roll!

Then, Alyssa pulled out the biggest surprise of all. As a Newfoundlander, she was ready to bring her husband into her family with the legendary screech ceremony. This is the only way that anyone who is not a natice born newfoundlander can become one – You kiss the fish and you drink the screech then you screeeehhhh!! Be careful with that rum, Dennie! After ceremoniously kissing the fish, our wedding photographers managed to snap a photo of the moment Dennie became an official Newfoundlander.
