It was such a joy to document Judah Avenue’s first wedding in Accra, Ghana! The anticipation of going back to Ghana was made even sweeter at the thought of the beautiful wedding I would be going to shoot. I only met Angie for the first time on the day of her and Nana’s wedding at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra but I witnessed enough intimate interactions between her and family to conclude that she is one of the sweetest people in world. This lovely and whimsical image of her looking out the window is truly a reflection of the quiet and poignant beauty that veritably surrounds this lovely lady. Nana is her perfect compliment and I am honored to have documented their once in a lifetime.
When Angie and Nana first met, they barely spoke to each other. Their chance encounter in New York City went by unnoticed, until four months later when Angie returned to New York City for a job and ran into Nana once again.
What started as a blossoming friendship grew into something far more. On April 4th, 2015, Nana and Angie took a trip to a vineyard for a wine tasting. After picking a favorite wine, Nana took Angie aside and proposed, while a guitarist serenaded them with “All of Me.” Angie was surprised but answered “Yes!” without hesitation. Nana and Angie believe that fate is what brought them together and that it was fate that led to their happy union. On the first day of the year at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, Ghana, the couple wed in an elaborate and lavish wedding, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Once they read their vows and said “I do,” the newly proclaimed husband and wife released 2 white doves into the sky above them.
After the outdoor ceremony, the party moved inside to the Movenpick Accra reception hall. The beautiful hall was lit a vibrant purple with crystals cascading down from the ceiling. White roses lined the centers of the guests’ tables while the bride and groom sat separately at a table decorated with yellow. For their reception, the couple chose a 7 tiered cake, wrapped in diamonds, crystals, and jewels, like the bride. From the crystal glasses to the bejeweled menus, everything at the reception sparkled to celebrate a match made in heaven.
Thank you to Angie and Nana for having Judah Avenue be a part of their beautiful wedding at the Movenpick in Accra. Special thanks also to Dotun and Nii of Lightville Photography who were second shooters for this wedding.
and they lived happily ever after!
