Vince and Ticona Tie the Knot in Stylish Potomac Wedding Affair

For some, a wedding is really another reason to party, and rightly so, but for Vince and Ticona, the party was just icing on the cake for what was a very sincere and emotional union of their love and dedication to one another. Before the bride and groom even walked down the aisle, they each read a letter that they had written for one another. Ticona teared up as she read her husband-to-be’s touching and honest words of his admiration for her. Vince did the same as he adjusted his cufflinks and polished his shoes.

The couple weren’t the only ones who teared up either. When Ticona’s father made it down the aisle to give away his daughter, many guests couldn’t help but smile. And when he got up to dance with his daughter for the bridal dance, some couldn’t hold back the tears. But once the ceremony was over, the party got rocking and rolling. The reception was a lavish and joyous affair, full of life, music and energy.

Vince and Ticona, it was a pleasure and an honor to capture your memories. You ROCKED your day! ♥

I would like to thank my second shooters and assistants for the day — Lakesha, Dotun Ayodeji and Nii Djarbeng — for assisting me in covering Vince and Ticona’s day. We shot this wedding with a whopping 7 Canon DSLR cameras and this comprehensive coverage would not have been possible without you.

Picture of the Moment: Sammakai and Jangar Walking the Walk

This fabulous couple was one of the highlights of my summer. I knew right from speaking with them over the phone that they would be a pleasure to work with. The bride, Jangar, is one of the most graceful ladies I have ever met. She is soft-spoken, intelligent and absolutely gorgeous! Sammakai said he knew Judah Avenue was the one when he saw Abi and Jesse’s picnic shoot. He proposed to Jangar over a gondola boat ride with a romantic picnic after that (lucky girl, Jangar!) In that moment, I knew this was a man who not only talked the romantic talk but also walked the walk…and when he showed up in fresh and glossy Christian Louboutins on his wedding day, I knew their’s would be a walk (ahem wedding) to remember!

Color Me Coral: Jesse and Abigail’s Silver Spring Wedding

I am pleased to bring the pictures from Abigail and Jesse’s wedding in Silver Spring, Maryland. From their engagement through the wedding, these two have been a pleasure to work with and there has never been a couple who is more deserving of this love. I don’t think I ever mentioned this on the blog, but Jesse’s mom was actually my 6th grade teacher (Mrs Jenkins) and girl scout leader  from all the way back in Ghana!

It was no easy task teaching that class of 6th grade hell raisers I tell you, but  she was kind and full of patience for all our antics; so when I got the call from her last year about shooting Jesse’s wedding, it was an absolute honor! Jesse and Abi, thank you for all the smiles and laughter you have brought to the Avenue these past months. May your union be blessed! Thank you also to Shardayy for being my second on this wedding.

Abigail Jenkins - Once again, Judah Avenue Photography has made us speechless! Each and every picture is absolutely flawless, vibrant with colors yet has a romantic feel which is what we wanted and more. We couldn’t thank you enough for the excellent service and friendship that has been created. There were pictures of our families that brought a tear to our eyes. I will say this over and over again that this talent cannot be found anywhere. I love the picture of the guys walking in the hallway and the picture of the ladies in prayer. It was just awesome!!! All we know is that a lot of people have fallen in love with our wedding but it is not only because the wedding was powerful but also because everything was captured beautifully. After all, how can you look back without pictures???
We can’t wait for another time in our lives that we will need you guys (hint hint). Love you soooooo much!!!!

Highlights from Cyndi and Tim’s Sweet Vintage Virginia Wedding

Cyndi is one of the most fantastic people a person could ever hope to meet in their lifetimes. Her and Tim’s wedding was small and intimate but one of the most fun I have ever been to. Everything from the location to the turquoise galoshes Cyndi wore when I arrived to take her getting ready pictures was unique and reflective of the couple’s original and offbeat personalities. The red hair, blood red rose bouquet, pinup bridesmaid dress, and everything you see in these pictures is exactly who she is, and yes the red hair is that red in person too! There were so many magazine worthy shots but here are just a few highlights from the ceremony and after. This is one wedding that I cannot wait to complete an album for.

Bethany and Anthony’s Grand Atrium Wedding in Vienna, VA

Bethany and Anthony’s wedding at the Grand Atrium in Virginia was a fun, fun affair. The rain threatened to ruin the special day but you really can’t tell it from these pictures. The sun came out to cheer us on during the ceremony, the bride and groom looked amazing and the wedding party was game for lots of fun at the reception. What more can a photographer ask for? Congratulations to Bethany and Anthony!

Something about this framed picture of Bethany and Anthony strikes me as timeless. Not sure when it was taken exactly but it sort of reminds me of a high school prom picture. You know, the kind you take to show everyone you are a couple in high school. Bethany and Anthony look so young and in love, you get the feeling they’ve come a ways. The flower petals are a lovely complement…
